Dental Veneers

What are dental veneers?

Worn, chipped, uneven, or discoloured teeth can make your smile look tired. Dental veneers renew their appearance, giving them a smooth, natural-looking surface that feels like new.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells placed carefully on the front of your teeth to restore their shape, colour, and symmetry. Each veneer is crafted to blend seamlessly with your natural enamel, creating a balanced, harmonious smile.

What types of veneers do you offer?

We offer composite, porcelain, CEREC, and 3D-printed veneers. Each type has its own benefits depending on what you want to improve and how quickly you’d like results.

What’s the difference between composite resin, porcelain, CEREC, and 3D-printed veneers?

  • Composite resin veneers are applied directly to your teeth and can usually be completed in one visit.
  • Porcelain veneers are made in our onsite dental lab. They’re stronger and more stain-resistant than composite, with a very natural look and feel.
  • CEREC veneers are designed and milled in-clinic using digital CAD/CAM technology, often ready the same day.
  • 3D-printed veneers are ultra-thin shells made from a strong hybrid resin. They’re a conservative option that allows precise design control.

How do you design veneers?

We use a high-resolution intraoral camera to record your teeth and gums. With digital smile design, we can plan the shape, shade, and symmetry so your veneers look natural and even.

Can I see what my smile will look like before I decide?

Yes, you can. We can create a digital simulation on-screen or 3D-printed mock-up shells you can try in your mouth. It helps you feel sure about your choice before moving ahead.

What’s a 3D-printed smile try-in?

A 3D-printed smile try-in is a temporary version of your veneers made from your digital design. You can see and feel how they look before the final ones are made.

What happens during veneer treatment?

Here’s a general overview of the process:

  1. Consultation & digital scans – We check your teeth, gums, and bite, and take detailed digital scans to plan your veneers accurately.
  2. Tooth preparation – Some teeth may need light shaping so the veneers fit naturally. With modern materials and conservative techniques, often only slight or no preparation is needed.
  3. Smile design – Using a digital modelling software, we plan the size, shape, and colour of your veneers so they match your smile naturally.
  4. Veneer fabrication – Veneer treatments typically take two visits, but direct composite veneers are often done in one visit. In some cases, CEREC or 3D-printed veneers can also be completed on the same day.
  5. Placement, curing, and characterisation – We carefully bond the veneers, cure them, and add final touches so the colour, texture, and fit look natural.

How long do veneers last?

With good care, composite veneers may last around 4–8 years, while porcelain or CEREC veneers often last 10–15 years or longer. Regular checkups and proper cleaning can help them stay in excellent condition.

How do I take care of veneers?

  • Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush and floss gently.
  • Avoid biting hard things or opening packets with your teeth.
  • If you grind your teeth at night, wear a night guard.
  • Try to limit staining foods and drinks.
  • Visit regularly for professional checks and cleans.

Other FAQs:

Can veneers fix gaps or crooked teeth?

Yes, veneers can help close small gaps and make slightly crooked teeth look more even and balanced. For larger spacing or bite issues, we may recommend clear aligners first before adding veneers for the final touch.

Will you have to file down my teeth?

Not always. We use minimal-prep or no-prep techniques when possible. Only a very thin layer of enamel is adjusted so the veneers sit naturally and look seamless. Modern materials mean less drilling and more of your natural tooth preserved.

Am I a good candidate for veneers?

If your teeth and gums are healthy and you’d like to improve the shape, colour, or alignment of your smile, veneers could be a good option. Your dentist will check your bite, enamel, and oral health first to make sure it’s suitable and long-lasting.

Can veneers be done with other treatments?

Yes. Many people combine veneers with teeth whitening, clear aligners, or gum contouring for a balanced result. We’ll help plan the right order of treatments so everything blends naturally.

Why do people choose Leeming Dental for veneers?

Our clinic combines advanced digital tools with personal care. We use CEREC, 3D printing, and digital smile design for precise, efficient results. You can see a virtual preview—or even a 3D-printed try-in—before treatment, and most steps are done on-site for comfort and convenience.
