Toothaches are never a pleasant experience. However, we are always ready to take on any toothache emergency promptly – we have spots reserved for emergency dental care everyday at Leeming Dental.
At your initial appointment, we would need to examine the problem tooth and determine the best treatment option for you. This may possibly include taking an x-ray of and testing the problematic tooth.
If it is possible to resolve the problem on the day, we will. However, if the problem is a little more complex and requires more attention, we will usually discuss a treatment plan with you for fixing the tooth. We will provide temporary treatment also. Then we’ll have you back to have your problem tooth fixed on another day – at your convenience.
What about the pain?
In the meantime, household pain relief medications like Panadol or Neurofen are recommended. Once you arrive at our clinic, we can provide you with instant pain relief (via anesthetics) and further pain control by prescribing pain medication.
It’s best to prevent toothache, so that these dental emergencies can be avoided altogether. Toothaches don’t happen overnight. They are usually a result of slow and gradual tooth decay. By the time you experience a toothache some form of damage has already occurred.
A six monthly check up and clean is strongly recommended to ensure you don’t ever experience the nagging aches and throbbing pain of a toothache.
